NRA Basic Shotgun & Shotgun Instructor Course
Here is your chance to take both the NRA Basic Shotgun class on day one (April 27, 2024) and the NRA Shotgun Instructor on day two (April 28, 2024). this is only the second time we have offered these two classes at the Preserve Academy so sign up before it sells out!
In the basic class, students will learn how to shoot shotguns at moving targets. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; shotgun parts and operation; shotgun shell components; shotgun shell malfunctions; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting at straight away and angled targets; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development.
On the second day, students will learn how to teach the basic shotgun class and upon successful completion will be certified as an NRA Shotgun Instructor.
Required Prerequisites: NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) completed in the last two years.
Required Equipment: Eye and ear protection, a pump action shotgun (or one can be used from the Preserve) and approximately 50 rounds of 7 1/2 shot target loads, which can be purchased the day of the class.
Member and Guest Dress Code. NRA Basic Shotgun & Shotgun Instructor Class (2 Day)
When entering the Members Lodge Clubhouse, inclusive of the Double Barrel Steak Restaurant inside and outside dining, and the Preserve Academy classroom, we kindly ask that you abide by our Resort Casual Dress Code, permitting collared shirts, dress shorts, cotton and linen slacks, dressy blouses, pullover tops, dresses and maxi dresses, dress jeans, and close toed shoes.
Nonconforming clothing includes but is not limited to; bathing suits, beach coverups, camisoles, hoodies, non-dressy Jeans, carpenter pants, T-shirts, sweat suits, cutoffs, torn shorts, yoga pants, sneakers, and flip-flops.
