ADVANCED COMBAT PISTOL MARKSMANSHIP (201)

Here is your opportunity to train with Kyle Josephson, Special Forces Weapons Sergeant, for two (2) additional days! Kyle’s Advanced Combat Pistol Marksmanship (201) course specifically builds on the skills taught in Combat Pistol Marksmanship (200). This course begins with classroom and dry practice on day one (1) to ensure your technique is correct. Day two (2) is all live fire with new shooting drills that concentrate on speed, accuracy, and effective placement of your rounds.

Required Prerequisites: All students MUST have completed our Combat Pistol Marksmanship (200) Course and be proficient in the skills taught in that course. Any questions should be directed to the Director of Training by email here or by phone at (401) 636-0784.

Required Materials: Eye and ear protection, a pistol (you are familiar with), an OWB holster, a reliable belt, at least 2 magazines, a pistol magazine pouch, and 300 rounds of pistol ammunition.

CARBINE RIFLE (102) TRANSITION FROM RIFLE TO PISTOL

Join Kyle Josephson, Special Forces Weapons Sergeant for this intermediate course that will take your carbine rifle skills to the next level while implementing pistol shooting skills during your course of fire. Kyle’s curriculum builds on Carbine 100 and Carbine 101 and includes numerous rifle to pistol transition drills that will increase your shooting ability and skill set.

Required Prerequisites: All students must have completed Carbine 100 and Carbine 101 or equivalent rifle course and have a strong understanding of rifle shooting fundamentals and clearing rifle malfunctions. All students MUST have completed (at least) a basic pistol class and a previous drawing from the holster class at a minimum. Students should have a solid foundation in pistol shooting fundamentals, clearing malfunctions, and drawing from a holstered position as well.

Required Materials: Eye and ear protection, carbine/AR-15 rifle, a reliable sling, one (1) rifle magazine pouch, a pistol (you are familiar with), an OWB holster, a reliable belt or battle belt, at least 2 pistol magazines, two (2) pistol magazine pouches, 150 rounds of pistol ammunition and 100 rounds of rifle ammunition.

CARBINE RIFLE (103) UTILIZING RELATIVE COVER

Continue to train with Kyle Josephson, Special Forces Weapons Sergeant for this intermediate course that will sharpen your carbine rifle skills, teach you new skills, and build on your transition from rifle to pistol skills taught during the previous class.

Kyle’s Carbine Rifle (103) incorporates shooting from positions of relative cover and includes a variety of techniques that will help you be successful while shooting from this position. Engaging a threat from a position of cover is also discussed and multiple shooting drills from positions of cover are included. Enrollment in Carbine Rifle (103) requires proficiency with the previous skills taught in Carbine Rifle 100/101 and 102.

Required Prerequisites: All students must have completed Carbine 100,101,102 (or equivalent rifle courses) and have a strong understanding of rifle shooting fundamentals and clearing rifle malfunctions. All students MUST have completed (at least) a basic pistol class and a previous drawing from the holster class at a minimum. Students should have a solid foundation in pistol shooting fundamentals, clearing malfunctions, and drawing from a holstered position as well.

Required Materials: Eye and ear protection, carbine/AR-15 rifle, a reliable sling, one (1) rifle magazine pouch, a pistol (you are familiar with), an OWB holster, a reliable belt or battle belt, at least 2 pistol magazines, two (2) pistol magazine pouches, 50 rounds of pistol ammunition and 210 rounds of rifle ammunition.

COUPLES BEGINNER PISTOL (100) COURSE

Calling all husbands and wives, parents and children, partners, friends, and family members… are you looking for something new to do on a date? Do you want to learn a skill that you and your significant other can do other than dinner and a movie? Is your husband asking you to go shooting with him, but you don’t really want to learn from him… (no offense meant)! Are you and your friend looking for a new hobby? If the answer is, “Yes” to any of those questions, we have the solution!

Join us for our Couples Beginner Pistol Course! This class is perfect for someone who has NEVER fired a gun AND someone who is familiar with firearms! Things always go better in pairs so grab that special person and plan a date to join us for a class where you can both learn, have fun, and share great memories together!

We provide a 22-caliber gun, 22 caliber ammunition, eye protection, ear protection, and targets. You are also welcome to bring your own gun and ammunition if you’d like!

DEFENSIVE HANDGUN (101)

This six (6) hour class reviews firearm safety and shooting fundamentals in the classroom, and then it’s off to the range. We focus on shooting drills, re-loading, clearing malfunctions, verbal commands, and scanning,

This course focuses on using a firearm for the lawful self-defense of you or your family. Learn how to use your handgun to give yourself the best chances of stopping a threat and save a life, especially your own!

This is not a beginner course and previous shooting experience is required. Students should have a clear understanding of loading/unloading their firearm, shooting fundamentals, and firearm safety. The recommended prerequisite course to this class is a recent NRA Basic Pistol course, Ladies Pistol (100) course, equivalent beginner shooting course, or previous shooting experience conducted recently.

Students should bring a firearm, 2 magazines, approximately 150 rounds of ammunition, eye protection and ear protection. Your class payment includes free use of a .22 caliber firearm, eye protection and ear protection if you do not own them. Ammunition is not included and must be secured prior to class.

DEFENSIVE HANDGUN (102)

This six (6) hour class contains a review of firearm safety, malfunctions, verbal commands, and scanning. From there, the student will learn additional malfunction clearing skills, alternate shooting positions, and shooting from behind cover.

Students should have a firm grasp on the skills taught in both a beginner shooting class (example: NRA Basic Pistol class) and the skills taught in our Defensive Handgun 101 class (or an equivalent, intermediate course).

This course builds on Defensive Handgun 101 which is the required prerequisite class (or an equivalent class) to our Defensive Handgun 102 class.  Please contact the Director of Training with any questions about equivalent classes that will take the place of our Defensive Handgun 101 class prior to registration.

Students are strongly encouraged to bring their own firearm (that they are familiar with), 2 magazines, approximately 150 rounds of ammunition, eye protection, and ear protection. Your class payment includes free use of a .22 caliber firearm, 1 magazine, eye protection, and ear protection if you do not own the aforementioned equipment. Ammunition is not included and must be secured prior to the class date.

A reliable belt and holster is strongly recommended but not required.

DEFENSIVE SHOTGUN (101)

This four (4) hour class focuses on the pump action shotgun and its time tested reliability and effectiveness as a tool for self-defense. This course explains the operation of the shotgun, advantages and disadvantages when using it for self-defense, shotgun manipulations, and more. We then move to the range to conduct loading, unloading, malfunctions drills, and live-fire drills. 

This class is for the shooter who has never fired a shotgun or is new to using a shotgun for self-defense. You will learn a number of  important shooting skills and shotgun manipulations to build upon in future classes. Students should bring a shotgun, approximately 75 rounds of slug ammunition, eye and ear protection. A reliable sling is required for this class.

DRAWING FROM CONCEALMENT FOR THE LAW-ABIDING CITIZEN

This four (4) hour class focuses on drawing your gun from concealment and firing to stop a deadly threat. An introduction to proper drawing techniques without concealment is covered then we concentrate on drawing from a variety of clothing conditions. Several different firing drills are covered in this course as well. 

Too often, law abiding citizens have a permit to carry but rarely practice the draw from a variety of concealment conditions. We will cover a number of techniques and factors that will increase your chances of surviving a deadly force encounter. Students should bring a firearm, 2 magazines, approximately 150 rounds of ammunition, eye, and ear protection, and your Rhode Island Pistol Permit Application. A holster is recommended but not required. Previous shooting experience is recommended.

FLY FISHING (100)

We will cover the basics of fly fishing in the classroom and on the pond. Starting with fundamentals like the differences between fly and spin rods, types of flies, fly line construction, casting basics, reel selection and how to present a fly to fish, we’ll talk streamers, wet and dry flies plus some basic entomology and then pack up the gear and get to the fishing. 

You’ll leave excited to start fly fishing on your own, knowing how to identify local fish and which fly set up is best for you. Todd Corayer is a local fisherman who has fished fresh and salt water on both coasts, Canada and Mexico. He’s a freelance outdoors writer who pens the weekly Fish Wrap column while also working as The Preserve’s Field Manager. The Sporting Shoppe will provide a Complete Fly Fishing
Package (Rod, and Reel) Which Can Be Taken Home with You After Class FREE of Charge.

INTRODUCTION TO CARBINE RIFLE (100)

This four (4) hour class explores the operation of the AR-15 rifle and gives an overview of direct gas impingement and piston driven operating systems. We also cover firearm safety, shooting fundamentals, stance, grip, breathing, re-loading, and Phase 1 malfunctions for the AR rifle. 

This class is for the shooter who has never fired an AR or is new to using an AR style firearm. We will give you a solid foundation on how to operate your AR rifle and prepare you for more advanced AR shooting skills and rifle manipulations. On top of that, refreshments and lunch is served free of charge!  Students should bring an AR style rifle, 2 magazines, approximately 200 rounds of ammunition, eye, and ear protection. A reliable sling is required for this class. A plate carrier, vest, and/or magazine pouches are strongly recommended.

INTRODUCTION TO RED DOT PISTOL SHOOTING (100)

Calling all Red Dot Shooters! Speed and accuracy will help you win in gunfight and a red dot sight increases those chances even further! During this class we will discuss advantages and disadvantages of rod dot sights, effective shooting techniques that increase your accuracy with a red dot sight and run through a variety of drills that will test your speed and accuracy in live-fire scenarios. All of our Red Dot Shooting Courses are taught by Special Forces Weapons Sergeant, Kyle Josephson. Allow Kyle to pass on his knowledge and skills so you can take your shooting ability to the next level.

Required Prerequisites: An NRA Basic Pistol class, previous shooting class, or equivalent experience  to include an understanding of shooting fundamentals is required.

Required Materials: A firearm with an affixed red dot sight, 2 magazines, approximately 150 rounds of ammunition, eye protection, and ear protection is required.

A holster and reliable belt is recommended but not required.

INTRODUCTION TO LOW LIGHT PISTOL SHOOTING (100)

According to the FBI, a majority of shootings occur in low light conditions yet a majority of firearms training is conducted in daylight conditions. Here is an opportunity to bring your training to the next level and add new skills to your firearms training.

We cover the physiology of vision in reduced light, target identification, shoot and no-shoot situations, gun mounted lights, hand-held flashlights, low-light shooting drills, and more!
Students should have prior shooting experience. This class is limited to nine (9) seats so register early!

Required Equipment: Semi-automatic handgun or revolver, spare magazine, 150 rounds, hand held and/or gun mounted light, eye protection, and ear protection.
Recommended equipment: Sturdy belt, reliable holster, speed loader and/or magazine holder.

LADIES BEGINNER PISTOL (100)

Sorry guys, this one is for ladies only! This four (4) hour class covers firearm safety and shooting fundamentals in the classroom and
then it’s off to the range. We cover grip, stance, ready positions, loading, unloading, shooting drills, and more all at a controlled and
comfortable pace designed for the new shooter.

This is the perfect class if you have never fired a gun or are a beginning shooter. This course will give you a solid foundation in
firearm safety and basic shooting skills which you can build upon in more advanced classes. Students can bring their own firearm, 100 rounds, eye, and ear protection or it will be provided by The Preserve. We can provide use of a 22 caliber gun and 22 caliber ammunition free of charge or students can bring their own firearm and ammunition. We Do NOT provide ammo.

LADIES PISTOL (101)

Sorry guys, this one is for ladies only! This six (6) hour class builds on Ladies Pistol 100. We do a review of grip, stance, and basic
shooting skills, and then it’s off to the range for live fire. We cover basic shooting skills but work on reloading your gun and clearing a
phase one (1) malfunction.

This is not a beginner class! If you have taken our Ladies Pistol 100 or fired a pistol in the past (a few times) this class will help you build on
those skills! Students can bring their own firearm, 100 rounds, eye, and ear protection or it will be provided by The Preserve. We can provide use of a 22 caliber gun and 22 caliber ammunition free of charge or students can bring their own firearm and ammunition. We Do NOT provide ammo.

A reliable belt and holster is recommended.

LADIES PISTOL (102)

Sorry guys, this one is for ladies only! This six (6) hour class reviews firearm safety and continues to build on your previous shooting skills. We  review phase one (1) malfunctions, drawing your gun from a holster, and shooting from the holster. We also learn about phase two (2)
malfunctions, begin shooting from behind cover, and begin moving and shooting in a safe, controlled environment. 

If you are looking to improve your shooting skills and continue to grow as a shooter, this is the next step after Ladies Pistol 101. We move at a pace you are comfortable with and continue building your skills in the FATS training room. LEOSA QUALIFICATION

This four (4) hour course is for retired law-enforcement officers who need to fulfill their yearly LEOSA carry qualification. We conduct
a classroom refresher on firearm safety, shooting techniques, and Rhode Island law. After that, we move to the range to shoot the
ARMY L course. 

You will get three (3) attempts to pass the Army L qualification and upon successful completion, you will be certified with the caliber
of gun you use. You will also receive a LEOSA qualification card as proof of certification. Information about the Rhode Island Army L

LOW LIGHT PISTOL SHOOTING (101)

Low Light Pistol (101) builds on the skills taught in Introduction to Low Light Pistol (100) class. We do a review of flashlight techniques, shooting with a handheld flashlight, and using gun-mounted flashlights. We begin to incorporate the use of drawing from a holster in low light conditions, magazine changes, clearing malfunctions, and shooting from behind cover and concealment.

Prerequisites: Introduction to Low Light Pistol (100) or equivalent low light pistol shooting class AND Ready, Set, Draw OR Concealed Carry for the Law-Abiding Citizen class. An equivalent drawing class may also be accepted. Please contact the Director of Training here for additional information.

Required Equipment: Semi-automatic handgun or revolver, spare magazine, sturdy belt, reliable holster, handheld and/or gun mounted flashlight, 150 rounds, eye protection, and ear protection.
Recommended equipment: Speed loader and/or magazine holder.

MASSACHUSETTS FIREARMS CONCEALED CARRY

This is a four (4) hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom and range. Students are taught firearm safety rules, primary causes of firearm accidents, firearm parts, how to load and unload revolvers, semi-automatic hand guns, rifles, and shotguns, ammunition components, cleaning a firearm, and safe storage of firearms in the home. We then move to the range for live fire which is not required by Massachusetts but strongly recommended.

There is NO easier way to meet the Massachusetts license to carry requirement. At the successful completion of this course, you will receive
an NRA Home Firearm Safety Certificate and Massachusetts Basic Firearm Safety Certificate. Students can bring their own firearm, 50
rounds, eye, and ear protection or it will be provided by The Preserve.

MOVING AND SHOOTING (101) CLINIC

Our Moving and Shooting (101) Clinic continues to offer a variety of moving and shooting drills for the advanced shooter! We continue to work on drawing, moving, and shooting from CQB positions and positions of cover.

The Moving and Shooting (101) Clinic will also incorporate clearing malfunctions on the move and introduce new shooting scenarios that will force the shooter to use critical thinking skills while moving and shooting. Finally, we introduce a variety of shoot and no shoot drills that force the student to properly identify the potential threat prior to pulling the trigger.

NRA BASIC PISTOL CLASS

This course combines classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling, pistol parts and operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting positions, cleaning the pistol, and continued opportunities for skill development.

This is the perfect class if you have never fired a gun or are a beginning shooter. This course will give you a solid foundation in firearm safety and basic shooting skills which you can build upon in more advanced classes. This class is also a prerequisite to becoming an NRA Pistol Instructor.  Firearms, ammunition, eye and ear protection will be provided by The Sporting Shoppe at The Preserve or you are welcome to bring your own. A holster is recommended but not required and the ammunition count is approximately 100 rounds. This course qualifies you for your Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine and Florida resident or NON-resident pistol permit licenses. Students can bring their own firearm, 100 rounds, eye, and ear protection or it will be provided by The Preserve. We can provide use of a 22 caliber gun and 22 caliber ammunition free of charge or students can bring their own firearm and ammunition. We Do NOT provide ammo.

NRA BASIC RIFLE CLASS

This eight (8) hour class teaches students the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure,
Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet; take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.

This is a great beginner rifle class to learn the basics or refresh your skills. This class is also a prerequisite to be an NRA Certified Rifle Instructor. This class is rarely offered in Rhode Island so take advantage of this opportunity before it’s gone! On top of that, refreshments and lunch is served free of charge! Students can bring their own rifle, 100 rounds, eye, and ear protection or it will be provided by The Preserve.

NRA CHIEF RANGE SAFETY OFFICER CLASS

This is a two day class that covers Basic Instructor Training (BIT) on day 1 and Chief Range Safety Officer on day 2. If you have completed NRA BIT training in the last 2 years, you are not required to be present on day 1. Here is your chance to be an NRA Chief Range Safety Officer and teach the NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course to others! 

We will not be offering this class often so register early and spread the word. Seats are limited to just ten (10) spots. If you do not have your BIT and RSO, we are offering both classes this month as well! On top of that, refreshments and lunch is served free of charge both days! You must have completed an NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) course and NRA Basic Range Safety Officer (RSO) course. Proof of both certificates is required.

NRA BASIC INSTRUCTOR TRAINING

Learn to teach the NRA way! This class provides a solid foundation in teaching students and organizing classes. It is also
a prerequisite to all NRA instructor classes and the NRA Chief Range Safety Officer certification.

Becoming an NRA Instructor usually takes two (2) to three (3) days to complete. If you don’t have the time to put aside two
(2) or three (3) days in a row, this is an easy way to complete this prerequisite in one evening.

NRA PISTOL INSTRUCTOR COURSE

This is a two day class that covers Basic Instructor Training (BIT) on day one and NRA Pistol Instructor Training on day two. Here is your chance to be an NRA Instructor! With completion of this class, you may conduct a NRA Basic Pistol Class meeting the requirements of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Florida concealed carry permits. You can also qualify others for Rhode Island pistol permit qualifications. Finally, you can teach firearm safety and shooting skills to earn extra money or build your resume to get that permit to carry!

Students should have a 9mm or higher caliber pistol, 100 rounds, eye and ear protection and previous shooting experience. Students also need to have completed the NRA Basic Pistol Course online or in person.

ONE HANDED SHOOTER

This is a four (4) hour course that reviews firearms safety, grip, stance, and then we are off to the range. We concentrate on dominate
hand only and support hand only shooting, teach single hand reloads for both dominate and support hand, and run through a number of single hand shooting drills that will improve your overall shooting skills. 

Previous shooting experience and a strong understanding of two-handed shooting fundamentals is required. On top of that, refreshments and dinner is served free of charge! Students should bring their own firearm, 150 rounds, eye, and ear protection. A reliable holster and belt is recommended but not required for this class.

PISTOL CLEANING COURSE

Did you buy a new pistol but can’t make it through the manual to learn disassembly, cleaning, lubricating, and reassembly? Are you tired of searching for videos on the internet then having a feeling the person “teaching” in the video isn’t sure what they are doing? Are you an experienced shooter but still want to learn an in-depth approach to field striping your pistol, understanding the function of each part, and knowing where to clean and lubricate to ensure peak performance… especially if you plan on using a firearm for lawful self-defense? If your answer is “yes” to any of the above questions, we have a stress-free solution for you!

Join us for our Pistol Cleaning Course where we will help you disassemble your pistol, explain exactly what parts need to be thoroughly inspected and cleaned, where to apply lubrication, how to assemble your pistol, and ensure you are doing the correct function check to guarantee your pistol is assembled correctly. Plus… we tell you what not to do when cleaning your pistol!

It doesn’t matter what make, model, or caliber pistol you own, we will cover it in this two (2) hour course. Our goal is to ensure you “learn-by-doing” so when you leave our course, you understand how to disassemble, clean, lubricate, and assemble your pistol without any assistance! Seats are also limited for this course to ensure each person gets the personal attention they need!

YOUTH RIFLE COURSE

We are proud to offer an opportunity for young people to learn about firearm safety, shooting fundamentals, and responsibility when it comes to firearms!

In this class, students ages 13 to 17 will have the chance to “learn by doing” in a safe and structured setting with patient and attentive instructors who will teach rifle shooting skills.

We provide everything the students need; rifles, ammunition, targets, eye protection, and ear protection. Lunch will also be provided at no additional cost!

YOUTH RIFLE COURSE (101)

We are proud to continue our training for students ages 13 to 17 years of age with our Youth Rifle (101) Course. In this course, we review the skills in Youth Rifle (100) Course and add new skills such as clearing firearm malfunctions and shooting from different positions.

Our Youth Rifle Course are more than just students shooting a rifle. We teach firearms safety, proper storage, responsible gun ownership and making good decisions when using any firearm. Education is the key with all of our classes, especially the youth rifle class! Give your child the opportunity to learn safe, responsible gun handling in a patient, supportive environment.

We provide everything the students need, rifles, ammunition, targets, eye protection, and ear protection. Students will also have the opportunity to fire a variety of different rifles such as an AR-15 and 308 caliber if they choose to. Finally, lunch will also be provided at no additional cost!

RADKIDS 5-7 CHILD SAFETY SEMINAR

Ages: Child ages five (5) to seven (7) with adult

This two (2) hour class is a comprehensive child safety program that combines education and empowerment. Verbal and physical resistance skills are taught and designed for children to escape from violence being attempted on them. We don’t just tell children to stay safe, we show them how.

RADKIDS 8-12 CHILD SAFETY SEMINAR

Ages: Child ages eight (8) to twelve (12) with adult

This two (2) hour class is a comprehensive child safety program that combines education and empowerment. Verbal and physical resistance skills are taught and designed for children to escape from violence being attempted on them. We don’t just tell children to stay safe, we show them how.

READY, SET, DRAW!

This four (4) hour class teaches the proper drawing technique from a holster, holstering, shooting drills, shoot/no shoot situations, verbal commands, and more. We also examine a variety of holsters; carry positions, firearms selection, and a brief overview of drawing from concealment.

For the law-abiding citizen, it can be a challenge to learn the proper draw then have an opportunity to practice it at a range. This class gives you the opportunity to practice the draw and fire your gun under the supervision of trained professionals. This class is recommended prior to Concealed Carry for the Law Abiding Citizen if you have no drawing experience. Students should bring a firearm, 2 magazines, approximately 150 rounds of ammunition, eye, and ear protection. 

A sturdy belt and reliable holster is required. Previous shooting experience is strongly recommended.

RED DOT PISTOL IWB DRAWING (102)

If you are carrying concealed (or thinking about it) and employing a red dot sight, this course is a must! This course teaches the skills necessary to draw your firearm from an inside the waistband (IWB) holster with speed.

This course builds on your drawing skill set, allows you to perfect your technique, and discusses advantages and disadvantages of holster locations, drawing from concealment, and avoiding printing.  All of our Red Dot Shooting Courses are taught by Special Forces Weapons Sergeant, Kyle Josephson. Allow Kyle to pass on his knowledge and skills so you can take your shooting ability to the next level.

Required Prerequisites: An NRA Basic Pistol class, previous shooting class, or equivalent experience  to include an understanding of shooting fundamentals is required.

RIFLE CLEANING COURSE

Did you buy a new bolt action rifle or AR rifle but can’t make it through the manual to learn disassembly, cleaning, lubricating, and reassembly? Are you tired of searching for videos on the internet then having a feeling the person “teaching” in the video isn’t sure what they are doing? Are you an experienced shooter but still want to learn an in-depth approach to field striping your rifle, understanding the function of each part, and knowing where to clean and lubricate to ensure peak performance… especially if you plan on using a firearm for lawful self-defense? If your answer is “yes” to any of the above questions, we have a stress-free solution for you!

Join us for our Rifle Cleaning Course where we will help you disassemble your rifle, explain exactly what parts need to be thoroughly inspected and cleaned, where to apply lubrication, how to assemble your bolt carrier group and rifle, and ensure you are doing the correct function check to guarantee your rifle is assembled correctly. Plus… we tell you what not to do when cleaning your rifle!

It doesn’t matter what type of bolt action or AR rifle you own, we will cover it in this two (2) hour course. Our goal is to ensure you “learn-by-doing” so when you leave our course, you understand how to disassemble, clean, lubricate, and assemble your rifle without any assistance! Seats are also limited for this course to ensure each person gets the personal attention they need!

Materials required: Bring your unloaded rifle in a case, rifle cleaning kit (we will have them for sale during the course if you don’t have one for an additional $30.00), and do not bring any live ammunition into the classroom.

RHODE ISLAND PISTOL PERMIT & MASSACHUSETTS LICENSE TO CARRY

This five (4) hour class will help you accomplish a number of objectives. We will conduct the NRA Home Firearm Safety Course which is accepted by the State of Massachusetts for a License to Carry. You will also be able to shoot the Rhode Island Army L course which is required by the State of Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office for a Rhode Island Pistol Permit. The Army L course is challenging and prior
shooting experience is recommended. You will get three (3) attempts to pass the Army L qualification and upon successful completion, you will be certified with the caliber of gun you use. Students should bring a firearm, 2 magazines, approximately 150 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection, and your Rhode Island Pistol Permit Application. At the successful completion of this course, you will receive a NRA Home Firearm Safety Certificate, a Massachusetts Basic Firearm Safety Certificate, and be signed off on your Rhode Island Pistol Permit
Application for the Army L course.

RHODE ISLAND PISTOL PERMIT PREP CLASS

This four (4) hour class focuses on Rhode Island Law, appropriate times to use force, an overview of the Rhode Island pistol permit application, carrying a concealed firearm in Rhode Island, firearms safety, and more. You will also be able to shoot the Rhode Island Army L course which is required by the state of Rhode Island for a Rhode Island pistol permit.

The Army L course is challenging but perfect practice makes perfect! You will get an opportunity to shoot the ARMY L course a minimum of three (3) times and probably more. Students should bring a firearm, approximately 100 rounds (or more) of ammunition, eye protection, ear protection, and your Rhode Island pistol permit application.

SPORTING CLAYS (100)

This three (3) hour class is tailor made for first time and novice shooters, or for those looking to re-introduce themselves to the sport. Participants will gain foundational shooting skills,  and experience hands-on learning of the basics and fundamentals of shooting sporting
clays. Additionally, you will be provided a thorough orientation of your selected shotgun model including the key components of firearm safety. Your learning experience will be greatly enhanced by shooting on The Preserve’s renowned and state-of-the-art sporting clays course. This course includes covered shooting positions situated across the front of The Preserve’s hunting lodge, with a commanding prospect on a field with over 250 different target presentations. This will enable you to experience a wide variety of shots that easily accommodates varied levels of difficulty. 

Sporting Clays (100) is ideal for those who want to shoot skeet or sporting clays, and develop crucial skills for success in bird hunting. You will begin with a classroom seminar, followed by your firearm orientation and safety instruction, culminating with expert 1 on 1 coaching on the region’s finest sporting clays course.

UTAH NON-RESIDENT 30 STATE CONCEALED

This four (4) hour course is conducted in the classroom and covers firearm safety, shooting fundamentals, stance, firearm malfunctions,
loading and unloading revolvers and semi-automatics handguns, Utah law, and more!

This class is an easy start to get your concealed carry permit in 30 states. While this permit does not guarantee you a permit in RI, MA,
or CT, it does lay the foundation to show you passed a background check, have been issued a concealed carry permit, and attended a firearm safety class. This permit is not valid in RI, MA, or CT and there is a $67.00 licensing fee paid to the State of Utah that is required as well.

WILDERNESS FIRST AID

We are thrilled to keep expanding the Preserve Academy curriculum with fun and useful classes that teach life-saving skills to our students! Wilderness First Aid teaches much more than the title says. It also teaches leadership skills, problem solving, and making good choices when someone has an injury.

A variety of medical conditions, injuries, and medical responses are taught. This class also combines classroom presentation and hands-on learning to ensure you have an opportunity to practice the skills you are taught.

This class meets once a week for four (4) weeks and all four (4) classes must be completed to earn the certification. All students receive a two (2) year Wilderness First Aid certification after completing this four (4) week course as well!

The one-time fee includes all four (4) classes, materials and  refreshments! Please see the attached flyer for additional information!

WORKPLACE AED/CPR COURSE

This OSHA and ILCOR (International Liaison Committee On Resuscitation) compliant course combines cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) into one program.  It is designed to teach the proper techniques to safely administer CPR and utilize an AED in emergency situations involving infants, children, and adults. While not addressing first aid measures this course is the perfect way to prepare individuals to address one of the largest killers worldwide. Implementing CPR and AEDs in the event of an emergency can drastically change outcomes for the better.

Students will be certified by First Response Training International (FRTI) and the certification is good for 2 years. The student manual, certification fees, and card are all included in the course price.
